WHO's Europe Director: If face mask use reached 95%, lockdowns would not be needed

Hans Kluge, the World Health Organization’s Europe Director, says if a face mask use reached 95%, lockdowns would not be needed, BBC reported.

“Face mask use is by no means a panacea. Europe is once again the epicentre of the pandemic, together with the United States. There is light at the end of the tunnel but it will be a tough six months,” Hans Kluge noted.

More than 29,000 deaths were recorded in the past week alone in Europe. Kluge added that one person dies every 17 seconds because of the pandemic.
