WHO Says Asymptomatic Spread Of Coronavirus 'Very Rare'

The World Health Organization says that transmission of the novel coronavirus by asymptomatic carriers is “very rare.” The head of its emerging diseases and zoonosis unit,  Maria Van Kerkhove, made this statement during a briefing in Geneva.

The health experts warned early that asymptomatic or presymptomatic people could spread the disease as well.

“From the data we have, it still seems to be rare that an asymptomatic person actually transmits onward to a secondary individual,” Van Kerkhove said on Monday.
