Venue of meeting of Committee of Ministers at Council of Europe to be decided tomorrow

The final decision about the venue of the meeting of Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe will become known on February 26 – Davit Zalkaliani, Minister of Foreign Affairs said.

Zalkaliani said that the sitting of Committee of Ministers with participation of deputy ministers would be held tomorrow and the choice would be made between Strasbourg and Tbilisi.

The Georgian authorities requested the Council of Europe that a meeting of the Committee of Ministers, scheduled for May, be held in Strasbourg instead of Tbilisi.

The reason is that a Russian delegation arriving in Tbilisi is likely to be led by Serge Lavrov, which could lead to protests in the country.
