US sends tons of wheat, soybean meal to Georgia

The ships Ocean Gladiator and Babuza Wisdom delivered 13,000 metric tons of wheat and 4,000 metric tons of soybean meal to the Port of Poti as part of the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food for Progress program, the US Embassy to Georgia reported on Wednesday.

The soybean meal and wheat would be sold on the Georgian commercial market. The proceeds would be invested into a USDA agricultural development program to improve Georgian farmers’ and processors’ productivity and efficiency and improve food safety and quality along Georgia’s dairy and beef value chains, the Embassy added.
