The US Embassy in Georgia released a statement on its Facebook page saying that the embassy is proud to support the National Center for Diseases Control and Ministry of Health in efforts to respond to the threat of novel coronavirus.

“Years of cooperation between the U.S. CDC and its Georgian counterparts is helping Georgia in its efforts to respond to the threat of COVID-19.

The latest trainings included over 200 professionals across Georgia and focused on proper identification and surveillance of COVID-19 cases, as well as infection prevention and control practices.

We are proud to support the Georgian NCDC and the Ministry of Health, and we look forward to continuing to work together to protect the health and safety of the Georgian people,” reads the statement.

On March 26, US Ambassador to Georgia also released a statement in that regard. “These are challenging times, and we are all trying to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe and healthy. We at the U.S. Embassy are particularly grateful for the pro-active efforts of the government of Georgia, including the NCDC the Prime Minister, the President, almost every ministry, and Parliament, doing their best to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus and minimize its impacts,” Degnan said.
