UNM Chair refuses to pay ransom to GD

Nika Melia, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, posted a statement on Facebook.

Nika Melia stated even if theoretically all the issues of the agreement between the government and opposition are agreed upon, Ivanishvili (former Chairman of GD) would not be able to trade in his ransom.

At the same time, Nika Melia asked all enthusiasts, including foreigners, to decline the altruistic wishes to pay his bail.

The UNM Chair stated he wants to see Giorgi Rurua, one of the founders and shareholders of TV channel Mtavari Arkhi, at home before his own release is discussed.

“Everything will be fine. The main thing is not to get tired and do not complain,” Nika Melia said in his Facebook post.

The opposition demands early parliamentary elections and the release of the United National Movement Chair, Nika Melia, and the co-founder of the TV channel Mtavari Arkhi Giorgi Rurua. The opposition believes that these two persons are political prisoners.
