UNESCO experts to publish conclusions on Gelati Monastery in mid-July

“UNESCO group of experts has completed the first stage works at the Gelati Monastery Complex and will declare its conclusions in mid-July”, Deputy Minister of Culture Kakha Sikharulidze stated on Monday at a joint press conference with foreign experts.

According to architect-restorer Ugo Tonietti, they will study the damaged parts of the wall paintings, also the faults made during the roofing works.

The UNESCO group of foreign experts arrived at the Gelati Monastery Complex and conducted the first stage expertise. They will issue recommendations and also set a future action plan.
