The UK Ambassador to Georgia, Mark Clayton has met with the newly appointed Director General of Georgian First Channel Tinatin Berdzenishvili.
UK Ambassador congratulated Tinatin Berdzenishvili on her election as a Director.
Mark Clayton pointed out that the Public Broadcaster’s role in Georgia is paramount as it is a very important source of independent information for Georgian citizens who will take part in the upcoming October elections.
“The United Kingdom supports Georgia’s free and transparent elections. It is important that all political parties adhere to the highest standards set by Georgian and international law,” stated Mark Clayton.
Tinatin Berdzenishvili said the Public Broadcaster policy, as well as the equal coverage of election subjects during the pre-election period, were discussed at today’s meeting.
