U.S. Ambassador to Georgia – I believe that work which Georgia has done in strengthening of judiciary procedures will bring a change in long-term perspective

“The U.S. has been a partner of Georgia for many years and it invested about USD 30 million in development of Georgia’s judiciary system, an increase of its transparency, effectiveness and trustworthiness. We want to see the strengthening of the supremacy of law – Kelly Degnan, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia said in an interview with Radio Liberty.

Degnan said she believed that that work which Georgia had done in strengthening of judiciary procedures would bring the change in the long-term perspective.

“We want to be sure that no shadow is cast to either judiciary or political processes in Georgia. I feel that all sides – both the opposition and the ruling party realize what is on the scales when you try to have clean, fair and free elections and you don’t try to politicize the judiciary system. These issues should be separated. That is why we cooperate with Georgia,” Degnan said.

The U.S. Ambassador said that a trustworthy judiciary system was important not only for the comfort of Georgian citizens but for the attraction of foreign investments and development of the economy.
