The Peace Corps continues to be in the service of the Georgian people and holds the swearing-in ceremony for the new group of Peace Corps Volunteers, 42 volunteers on July 5, – this is stated in the information released by the US Embassy in Georgia.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held today at Tbilisi State Medical University from 12:00 to 13:30. The ceremony will be attended by the Acting US Ambassador to Georgia Elizabeth Rood, the representatives of the US Embassy, ​​the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, regional and local governments, partner organizations and institutions, host families and staff of Peace Corps.

According to US Embassy, the new volunteers make up the nineteenth group of volunteers who have come to serve in Georgia since 2001.

Before starting their service, the new volunteers have participated in an eleven-week, pre-service training program that includes intensive study in the Georgian language, culture, and project-related skills.  During this time they lived with Georgian host families to facilitate their integration into Georgian society. At the end of their training, the volunteers will live and work in towns and rural communities across all ten regions of Georgia.
