Strategy Aghmashenebeli leader says two amnesty bills to be registered

“The parliament will register two amnesty bills, one by the opposition and the other by the Georgian Dream. Most importantly, we agreed that neither bill would apply to the convention articles,” said Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party.

According to him, the main thing is that the Georgian Dream agreed with the citizens’ demand.

“We agreed that violence cases were added to their bill and that the Georgian Dream bill would provide additional guarantees that the amnesty would not be extended for Mako Gomuri-type cases. We could not agree on the consent of the victims. GD says that we should not ask for their consent, while we believe it is required. There will be three committee hearings before we decide which bill goes for voting. The main thing is that the Georgian Dream has agreed to the people’s demand, and amnesty will apply to executioners in no case,” Vashadze said.
