Reconciliation and Civic Equality Minister: Assistance to locals in occupied Akhalgori not possible

The Georgian government has a non-stop and two-way communication with the representatives of the de-facto governments, said Tea Akhvlediani, Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.

Akhvlediani said the Georgian central government cares about the population residing near and across the so-called administrative boundary line, although it has no direct and efficient access to the occupied regions.

Different programs and mechanisms are implemented to improve the health and social-economic conditions of Georgian locals, the State Minister informed.

Akhvlediani added that the Georgian government has provided medical assistance to the occupied Abkhazia region in the struggle against COVID-19 and brought the infected patients for medical treatment amid the pandemic period.

“Unfortunately, due to the destructive position of the Tskhinvali occupation regime, it is not possible to provide similar assistance to our population, including locals in Akhalgori, which is regrettable,” said the State Minister.
