The majority of Georgian citizens do not violate travel rules in Schengen zone countries and get benefits from the privilege – Giorgi Gakharia, Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs told Spiegel German publication.

According to Gvakharia during the period from March 2017 to May 2018, a total of 66 091 arrived in Germany and only few of them asked for political asylum. The number of asylum seekers is decreasing, he claimed.

Gakharia said that Georgia was concerned about crimes committed by Georgian citizens. “However, statistics show that only 0, 3% comes on Georgians out of crimes committed by persons of other nationalities,” Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs said.

The minister also talked about steps made by the Georgian government for prevention of violation of visa-free rules by Georgian citizens.
