The use of single-use plastic bags will be gradually banned from October 1, 2018 – Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze announced at the briefing on Wednesday. According to him, the government of Georgia has adopted relevant regulations as a part of its green economy and environmental policy.

“As you know, in the last few years, the whole world has been waging war on using disposable plastics for wrapping. Plastics, especially the widespread plastic bags, are the worst pollutants that damage environment most.

The Government of Georgia, as part of its green economy and environmental policy, has adopted regulations that will come in force on October 1, 2018 to ensure the maximal gradual removal of disposable plastics,” Bakhtadze said.
