School students to study history of August 2008 war heroes

Starting the new academic year, in one part of schools, pupils will study history of August 2008 Georgia-Russia war. The stories about Georgian heroes will be included in the textbook of a new subject “Defense and Security.”

Shalva Mekravishvili, expert of Civil Education of Ministry of Education told the news to First Channel.

The pilot project will be carried out at the initial stage. However, the subject may become obligatory.

It is the joint project of Defense and Education Ministries. The subject will be taught in the 10th grade.
