Georgian students studying abroad represent a vast human resource for the country – Georgia’s President Salome Zurabishvili said during delivering her first annual speech in the parliament.

Georgian President named Diaspora and cultural relations as priorities of her activities. She said she was meeting with students and emigrants during her foreign visits.

President underlined that having the status of a Georgian citizen was very important for emigrants to keep close links with motherland. Zurabishvili said that work was ongoing with Justice Ministry to facilitate procedures for restoration and preservation of citizenship.

“It is our duty to create favorable conditions for immigrants’ return to the country and provide them with the information about the specialists of big demand to allow them to fit their professional plans with the local market,” President said.

Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, members of the government and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze are attending delivering of the annual speech by President Salome Zurabishvili.

According to the new regulations of the Parliament, the President’s report shall be followed by 10-minute speeches of chairpersons of factions that are neither in the parliamentary majority nor in minority – National Movement and Georgian Patriots. However, the National Movement will not participate in the plenary session in protest.

After that, leaders of the parliamentary majority and minority shall be given 15 minutes each, which will be followed by the President’s final speech.
