Saakashvili demands meeting with lawyer, Ukraine's consul over transfer to Gori Military Hospital
Georgia’s ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili demands a meeting with his lawyer Nika Gvaramaia and Ukraine’s consul over his transfer to the Gori Military Hospital, offered by Justice Minister today, United National Movement member Eka Kherkheulidze said after meeting with Saakashvili.
“Nika Gvaramia is on his way to the prison hospital. I can not say anything about Ukraine’s consul but he will be notified. Hope they will arrive shortly. The agreement over an optimal decision will be reached after the meeting,” Kherkheulidze noted.
Today, Justice Minister Rati Bregadze has offered jailed Mikheil Saakashvili a transfer to the Gori Military Hospital for treatment. He said the military hospital is well-equipped to treat Saakashvili, but the transfer requires his consent.
Following Bregadze’s offer, Droa leader Elene Khoshtaria stopped the hunger strike. She started the hunger strike on November 3 demanding Saakashvili’s transfer to a civilian clinic.
