Russia says it will respond to Georgia like it did in solidarity to other countries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has released an official statement regarding expulsion of foreign diplomats from the country.

“On March 30, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Russia summoned heads of diplomatic missions of Australia, Albania, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden and Estonia.

They were given protest notes and told that in response to the unsubstantiated expulsion of Russian diplomats, the Russian side is declaring the same number of employees of the diplomatic institutions of these countries as personae non gratae.

Taking into consideration the fact that Belgium, Hungary, Georgia and Montenegro have recently joined the mentioned countries, Russia will use its right to take similar steps in relation to them as well,” reads the statement of Russian Foreign Ministry.
