The rule of zonal-hour parking will be activated starting July 1 at the initial stage in the pilot model at several streets in Tbilisi – Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor said during the city governmental sitting.

According to Kaladze, the model will be sent to Tbilisi Sakrebulo (City Council) for consideration and approval. The model will be first introduced at Kote Abkhazi (former Leselidze) Street.

Tbilisi Mayor said that traffic jams and parking were among the main problems facing Tbilisi. “The problems cannot be solved immediately. But with the right policy and available resources, we will manage to resolve them through a plan oriented on long-term results,” Kaladze said.

Tbilisi Mayor explained that introduction of the zonal-hour parking model would be a strong tool to regulate traffic flows.

Kaladze said that parking fee would not refer to those cars, which are parked near living places, electric vehicles and those transport means, which belong to persons with limited physical capabilities. Also, all cars will be ensured with 4 free 15-minute parking per day.
