Ross Wilson – We believe that Georgian government has high trust to ensure security in Pankisi Gorge

We believe that the Georgian government enjoys high trust to ensure security in Pankisi Gorge — Ross Wilson, acting US Ambassador to Georgia said when commenting about the latest developments in the region.

According to Ambassador, the problem should be resolved through a dialog and accord. “Of course, the region needs development and energy recourses should be developed. Both the private sector and the government bear the responsibility to settle the situation,” Ross Wilson claimed.

Locals of Pankisi Gorge who are protesting against the construction of a hydro-electric power plant in the region clashed with the Special Task Squad on April 22. About 40 people were injured.
