Ross Wilson – It is essential that everybody respects election results

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II hosted Ross Wilson, the newly-appointed US Ambassador to Georgia.

The US-Georgia relations and other important issues including the recent presidential elections in Georgia were discussed during the meeting. Ilia II pointed out that the election period was difficult in Georgia due to Georgians’ being ‘emotional people.’

US Ambassador underlined that it was essential for everybody to respect election results and recognize the victory of the winner. “Georgia should overcome this complexity. Democracy means both victory and defeat,” Wilson stated.

According to US Ambassador, he urged the Georgian government to take into consideration the recommendations of international election observer organizations and eradicate the faults detected during the pre-election period and Election Day.

Catholicos-Patriarch gave presents to the ambassador and expressed hope on future cooperation. The Georgian Patriarchate released the information about the meeting.
