Revenue Service released information about Geneva meeting over customs monitoring of cargo turnover

Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance has released information about the meeting held in Geneva over the issue of customs monitoring of cargo turnover between Russia and Georgia

According to the statement, on February 6, the first meeting of the joint committee for the implementation of the agreement signed on November 9, 2011 was held.

The Revenue Service explains that the tasks of the joint committee with the participation of Georgia and Russia, chaired by Switzerland,  are to oversee issues related to the monitoring mechanism of customs administration and trade in goods between the governments of Georgia and the Russian Federation on the basis of an agreement signed on November 9, 2011, and also resolve disputed issues and invite experts, if necessary.

“During the meeting, the neutral private Swiss Company SGS, empowered by both states, presented a brief report on activities carried out within the framework of the mandate”, – the statement reads.

The Swiss Company SGS will carry out customs monitoring of cargo between Georgia and Russia based on the agreement signed in 2011.
