Remittances from Russia to Georgia decreased, from EU increased

In June 2019, the volume of money transfers from abroad constituted 143.6 million USD (398.8 million GEL), which is 6.3% more than the amount in June 2018.

According to the National Bank of Georgia, the largest amount, 34.78 million USD was transferred to Georgia from Russia. However, the volume of money, compared with the amount in June of the last year, decreased by 11 percent.

19.3 million USD were transferred to Georgia from Italy (+ 23.99 percent), 17 million USD from Greece (+ 23.06 percent), 15.29 million USD from the USA (+7.53 percent), 13.38 million USD from Israel (+0.67 percent).

The volume of remittances from EU countries in June increased by 25%.

In addition, 17.5 million USD was transferred from Georgia in June, which is 2.2% less as compared with June of the last year.
