Public Broadcaster kicks off pre-election training for its journalists

Georgian Public Broadcaster has kicked off pre-election training for its journalists.

The training is being conducted remotely by the BBC trainer Jonathan Stoneman.

Tinatin Berdzenishvili, Acting Director General of Georgian First Channel noted that today’s topic is accuracy — rules for the Public Broadcaster that lead to verified information.

“This training is paramount for us. After the training, Public Broadcaster will obtain an editorial guideline for election coverage.

This year is important for both journalists and the public as we have an obligation to provide objective, balanced and accurate information to the viewers aimed at making the right choice,” stressed Tinatin Berdzenishvili.

Jonathan Stoneman worked for the BBC for 20 years as researcher, producer, reporter, editor and Head of Training at World Service.

Stoneman currently runs the consulting company “Stonepeople Media”.
