Protesters rally in front of parliament

Civil activists and representatives of NGOs held a Freedom March rally at the Georgian parliament building on Tuesday.

They demand the release of convicts in the Davit Gareji case and Giorgi Rurua. According to them, these people should be released within the framework of the draft Amnesty Law.

Protesters announced upcoming rallies across the country.

Two people have been accused of prejudicing the territorial interests of Georgia. Iveri Melashvili and Natalia Ilychova were detained on October 7, 2020, within the investigation in the Davit Gareji monastery complex case.

Giorgi Rurua, the founder and shareholder of Mtavari Arkhi TV, has been detained for illegal possession and carrying a firearm earlier this year. Opposition forces see him as a political prisoner.
