The process of registration for political organizations for the forthcoming parliamentary elections has been simplified.

The political parties, which confirm support of voters with 5 thousand signatures instead of prior required 25 thousand signatures, will be eligible for registration at Central Election Commission (CEC).

The rules of participation for political organizations in the parliamentary elections of Georgia have been changed. Parliament passed Constitutional Amendments on June 29, 2020, and the changes are already in force. Some exceptions remain in force. The following political parties are freed from the obligation to submit signatures to CEC:

  •  All qualified parties;
  • All parties, which participated in elections independently or were in election bloc and received at least 15 thousand votes through proportional system;
  • All political parties, the candidate of which received at least 15 thousand votes in the first round of 2018 presidential elections.

As CEC reports, 6 political unions are collecting signatures at present. All the six parties are notified about carried out changes.
