Prime Minister Hosts French Interior Minister

Today, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze hosted France’s Interior Minister Christophe Castaner.

Special emphasis during the meeting was placed on the successful bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and France.
Mamuka Bakhtadze underlined the years-long relations between the Georgian and French nations, along with the fact that France always stood by Georgia’s side in times of trials and tribulations, which the Georgian people will never forget.

The conversation also touched on Georgia’s European integration and the political and practical importance of free-travel arrangements with Europe, as well as on issues pertaining to visa-free travel to the EU for Georgian citizens. The Head of Government thanked the French side for supporting Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

The meeting also emphasized the two countries’ law enforcement and security cooperation. In this context, the agreement between the Interior Ministries of Georgia and France, one signed under Minister Castaner’s visit to Georgia, was singled out. The agreement seeks to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in combating crime.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed commitment to deepening the productive and result-oriented cooperation with France.
The meeting at the Administration of the Government of Georgia was attended by Vice Prime Minister, Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
