President’s Administration denies reports that Salome Zurabishvili requested her personal guard to wear Chokha

The Administration of the President of Georgia denies reports that President Salome Zurabishvili requested her personal guard to wear Chokha (Georgian traditional clothing).

According to the administration, one of the TV channels spread false information aiming to mislead the public and discredit the Presidential Institution.

“It seems that the authors of fake news do not know the difference between the personal guard and the guard of honor.

The use of Chokha during ceremonies is a tribute to Georgian traditions. Apart from the fact that this false information serves to discredit the presidential institution, it offends Georgian national values and traditions,” – reads the statement released by President’s Administration.
