Georgia’s President begins official visit to Azerbaijan

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has begun her official visit to Azerbaijan. Her hosting ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

Within the frameworks of the visit, President Zurabishvili will meet with the President, Prime Minister and Parliament’s Speaker of Azerbaijan.

Zurab Pataradze, Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan, said that the visit of the President of Georgia will enhance the Georgia-Azerbaijan relationship. He said that Azerbaijan is a strategic partner and friend of Georgia.

“Our political relations, as well as economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian relations are developing dynamically. It is noteworthy that Azerbaijan is Georgia’s most important trading partner, it is planned to implement new projects and strengthen investment policy. All these important issues will be discussed by the President and the Azerbaijani side,” Ambassador said.

President Zurabishvili is planned to meet with Georgian students, with successful representatives of a business sector and the Georgian Diaspora.

The President of Georgia will also visit municipalities of Azerbaijan, including Kakhi, Zakatala, and Belakan – where ethnic Georgians are living.

The visit of the President of Georgia to Azerbaijan will end on February 28.
