President Salome Zurabishvili’s Address for New Year

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili wishes citizens a Happy New Year:

“My fellow compatriots, I’m glad and proud to stand in front of this beautiful Orbelian Palace and wish all of you a Happy New Year!

2018 was a very special year for me. This was the year of hard trials and great joy. I am grateful for your trust and support.  The experience has taught us a lesson. For the future, we should think about how to protect the law and at the same time protect freedom of speech and human dignity as it happens in many other countries. We should also think about how to protect against false information and disinformation, in order to bring peace to our society and not to threaten the democracy” – the President says in her New Year address.

“New Year is coming and I offer my heartfelt wishes! I congratulate our citizens living in Tbilisi and in all regions and villages of Georgia. I wish a Happy New Year to our compatriots living abroad! Congratulate the soldiers and the police officers who protect peace and order this night, I congratulate our soldiers participating in international missions in the distant Mali and Afghanistan. I plan to visit them in the nearest future. I wish a Happy New Year to our hero compatriots living across the occupation line, in Gali and Akhalgori.  I wish a Happy New Year to our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers; Let 2019 be a year of reconciliation.

I wish this year to be a year of peace and happiness, the year of unification and integration.

Happy New Year to all Georgia!”, – the President says in her New Year message.
