President meets with Jewish community on the issue of tourism, economic and cultural development of Lailashi

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has launched working meetings with the Jewish community on the issue of tourism, economic and cultural development of Lailashi village in Lechkhumi region.

According to Press Service of Presidential Administration, President Zurabishvili came out with the initiative after visiting a synagogue in Lailashi village that preserved one of the oldest Lailashi Bibles currently kept at Kekelidze National Center of Manuscripts.

The Jewish community lived for centuries in Lailashi. President visited Historic Museum of Georgian Jews and held a working meeting with representatives of the Jewish community who expressed readiness to become involved in the development of Lailashi and to make a contribution to this endeavor.
