Police in Georgia detain two foreign citizens for using 500€ fake banknotes

Officers of Investigative Service of Finance Ministry of Georgia detained two foreign citizens for using 500€ fake banknotes.

“An investigation has established that the detainees imported and used 20 pieces of 500€ fake banknotes in Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia. Police have seized €10 000 worth of counterfeit banknotes,” the Investigative Service said.

An investigation is underway under provision II, Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime envisages imprisonment from 7 to 10 years.
