Police apprehend 7 people during clashes at Georgian parliament

The police apprehended seven individuals during the clashes in front of the parliament building in the Georgian capital Tbilisi on Sunday.

The members of the opposition United National Movement (UNM), and Lelo for Georgia parties, also members of the Shame movement organized the rally on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Constitution.

Protesters symbolically tried to set up tents in front of the parliament, but the police did not let them.

All seven have been arrested under Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offences, which pertains to disobedience to the law enforcement officer’s order or request, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported. 

Georgia celebrates the 100th anniversary of its first Constitution on 21 February.
