PM – We will be very active, effective and objective

We have never feared acute questions and were always ready to give answers – Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia told journalists when asked to comment about the recent letter addressed to PM by two U.S. Senators.

“As you know, the new U.S. Ambassador arrived in Georgia yesterday. The parliamentary delegation will leave for the U.S. in the nearest future. I assure you that we will be very active, effective and objective about what you are making an excitement of. I reiterate that the U.S. is our strategic partner,” Gakharia said.

U.S. Senators Jim Risch, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Jeanne Shaheen, ranking member of the Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation, sent a letter to Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia on January 29, in which they expressed “concern over recent events that indicate a backsliding from Georgia’s commitment to build the institutions of their democracy.”
