PM - We use all available international tools in relation to detained Georgian doctor

Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said before the sitting of Cabinet of Ministers that the government and all relevant agencies were actively working in 24-hour regime regarding the issue of Doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili, who was illegally detained by the occupation forces.

“We use all the available international tools and of course, we are taking necessary steps required in such a difficult situation in full agreement with our international partners.

Of course, I would like to emphasize that we should all take into account the relevant standards of dissemination of information given the specificity of this process and, first of all, these standards should be considered in the interests of Mr Vazha and his family,” Prime Minister said.

Tbilisi-based doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili, who was illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near the occupation line with Akhalgori Municipality, was sent to two-month pretrial detention, on November 15.

Vazha Gaprindashvili was charged with “illegally crossing of border” under article 322 of the criminal code of Russia. Tbilisi activated the hotline mechanism of EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) to Georgia.
