PM: We create equal society

“Today, together with the rest of the world, we mark International Down Syndrome Day with special emotion,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili wrote on Facebook.

PM noted that the Georgian government took many steps to integrate citizens with Down Syndrome fully.

“We still have a lot of work to do to raise public awareness, to overcome stigmas and misconceptions, and at the same time to strengthen the rights of our citizens with Down Syndrome, for their greater involvement in public life.

We create a society of equal people, where everyone, regardless of any differences, has an equal opportunity to participate in educational, creative, sports, business or public spheres; Where everyone can work for the welfare of the country and live with dignity along with loved ones. Where we count not chromosomes, but – the fulfilled work and the goals achieved together,” PM remarks in a statement.
