PM to ask assistance to US and EU Ambassadors in release of Georgian citizen

Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia met with the US Ambassador Kelly Degnan and EU Ambassador Carl Harzell at the Governmental Administration. PM asked assistance to the Ambassadors of strategic partners in release of the illegally imprisoned Georgian citizen Zaza Gakheladze.

During the meeting, PM accentuated diplomatic and international mechanisms to stop illegal detentions and fundamental human rights violations at the occupational line.

The diplomats expressed concern over the illegal detention extension of Georgian citizen Zaza Gakheladze to 12.5 years and underlined importance of his immediate and unconditional release.

“The verdict that followed illegal detention represents a signal for the issue’s serious handling. We demand immediate release from this illegal imprisonment,” EU Ambassador claimed.

Kakhaber Kemoklidze, Head of the Governmental Administration participated in the meeting.
