PM, health experts, discuss preparation for Covid-19 vaccination

Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia and health experts discussed the preparations for the Covid-19 vaccination during a meeting at the governmental administration.

Participants of the meeting claimed that vaccination is among the main engines to defeat the virus along with regulations and restrictions.

The national vaccination plan aims at immunization of at least 60% of the country’s adult population. The government is actively working with the Covax platform and the Covid-19 vaccine producers. International recognition and the WHO official approval are the main preconditions to import the Covid-19 vaccines in Georgia.

First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maia Tskitishvili, Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze, Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani, Head of the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze, NCDC Deputy Head of Paata Imnadze, Immunologist/Allergist Bidzina Kulumbegov, President of Curatio International Fund Giorgi Gotsadze and Chief Advisor of the Norwegian Health Ministry Zaza Tsereteli attended the video-conference meeting.
