The Patriarchate of the Georgian Orthodox Church called demonstrators for peace and restraint.
“Mounting tensions, verbal abuses and hate speech is intolerable,” the Patriarchate said in a statement, having added that violence will bring no good to the country.
“The violence will hurt all – individuals, society and statehood,” it said.

Two opposite rallies are underway on Rustaveli Avenue. One group of protesters, among them representatives of opposition parties, NGOs and Tbilisi Pride activists, gathered near the Parliament building, while the other on the opposite side of the road near the Kashveti Church.
