Parliament Speaker: Easing life to refugees to be our duty

Georgian Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava said that the support of the international community to the course that Georgia chose with respect to peaceful resolution of conflicts had to become stronger in order to enable Georgian citizens return to their homes.

During the event organized on the occasion of the World Refugee Day, Kakha Kuchava said that occupation continued, and the 20 per cent of Georgia’s territories remained invaded.

“We have internally displaced persons, families. It is our duty to do our best to stand by those people and make their life easier so that they can return to their homes,” Kuchava said.

World Refugee Day is an international day organized every year on 20 June by the United Nations. It is designed to celebrate and honour refugees from around the world. The day was first established on 20 June 2001, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees.
