Parliament approves legislative changes on structural reorganization with first hearing

The Georgian Parliament approved the legislative changes on structural reorganization of ministries with first hearing today.

The legislative package was discussed during the extraordinary session. Natia Mikeladze, Government’s Parliamentary Secretary introduced it to lawmakers. The 84 MPs voted for, and 3 – against.

After passing through three readings, the legislative package will be submitted to President Giorgi Margvelashvili for signing.

Based on the proposed changes, ten ministries and one office of state minister will remain out of 14 ministries. The concept of small government is said to aim at welfare of Georgian citizens.
