Paata Imnadze: Nobody said not to use air conditioner at home, we are talking about air conditioners in public places that re-circulate indoor air

Paata Imnadze, Deputy Head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) relies on information provided by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention saying that the use of air conditioners increases the risk of disease transmission.

According to Paata Imnadze, unless there is solid evidence that the air conditioner does not pose a risk, the government will not be able to recommend its use on transport and public places.

At the same time, Paata Imnadze noted that the ban does not apply to all air conditioners.

“Nobody said not to use the air conditioner at home, we are talking about the use of air conditioners in public places, which re-circulate indoor air,” said Paata Imnadze.
