Oshki temple being rehabilitated

Rehabilitation works are ongoing at Oshki temple in Turkey. Giorgi Dvalishvili, Professor of Tbilisi State University (TSU), who visited Turkey several days ago, said that the temple is abridged with an iron fence.

Visitors are not allowed onto the territory and scaffoldings are being installed. Specialists are studying natural processes on the walls and are determining how to restore the damaged dome.

Fortification and rehabilitation works will be carried out based on the document signed between Georgian and Turkish governments on May 23, 2017.

Oshki is a Georgian monastery from the second half of the 10th century located in the historic province of Tao, now part of the territory of Turkey.
