Based on the appeal of the Public Defender of Georgia, OSCE/ODIHR will monitor the ongoing process of selection of the Supreme Court judges. The Public Defender’s Office released the regarding information.

Under the Constitution of Georgia, the Supreme Court must be composed of 28 judges. Today, 20 positions are vacant and for the first time in the history of Georgia, judges of Supreme Court will be elected for a lifetime.
