One protester threatens to burn himself at Customs Clearance Zone

A group of truck drivers is protesting against the decision of the Ministry of Finance on banning the import of wheat by road. They have gathered Revenue Service’s customs clearance zone, in Lilo district.

One of the protesters went up to the roof of the building. He inflicted self-injuries, poured gasoline and threatened to burn himself. He demanded the meeting with the Minister of Finance and the abolition of the ban.

Participants of the rally say that one of the reasons for the protest is the bank liabilities they have.

According to the new rule which is coming into force on October 1, wheat can be transported to Georgia only by sea, or by train.
