The opposition’s common, coordinated and documented position, aimed to overcome the post-election crisis in Georgia and submitted to facilitator Ambassadors at a meeting on December 4, outlines 3 main points, said Khatia Dekanoidze, one of the leaders of the United National Movement (UNM) Party.

“The document contains three important parts. We do not plan to go beyond this space. Our demand is early elections. All opposition leaders will confirm this. The second is the release of political prisoners; the third is the administering of the Central Election Commission.

To achieve these results, we have submitted a document detailing how to discharge the political crisis through early snap elections. Now it is the turn of the government to take a step towards the population of Georgia. There was no difference of opinion. There were some different opinions on tactics and strategy, but the opposition is united,” Dekanoidze said.

Georgian oppositional parties presented the approved, coordinated, and common position documented in details to facilitator Ambassadors on December 4. The U.S. and EU Ambassadors to Georgia are facilitating the negotiations between the ruling Georgian Dream Party and the opposition, though the first two rounds ended in no promising results.
