One of UNM Leaders: Signing a sheer paper would not resolve crisis

Reaching an agreement and signing a sheer paper would not resolve the political crisis in the country, said Akaki Minashvili, one of the leaders of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party.

In live air with Mtavari TV Channel, Akaki Minashvili said that the agreement on a paper could serve as pain subduing for a while, but the pain would remain and increase with time.

“We should treat the disease. The cure can be no political persecution in the country and no risk to be arrested for a diverse opinion,” Minashvili claimed.

The second EU-mediated attempt to solve political crises in Georgia failed earlier this week. EU mediator Christian Danielsson said he proposed a solution that puts the country’s interest first to the parties, but none of the political actors agreed on the solution.
