Occupied Abkhazia to close so-called checkpoint with Georgia from March 14

Georgia’s occupied Abkhazia region will close the so-called checkpoint with Georgia from March 14 in connection with threat of novel coronavirus spread at the decision of de-facto acting president Valery Bganba.

“Due to an increasing number of people infected with coronavirus in Georgia, Abkhazia’s state security service is closing Abkhazia-Georgia border checkpoints for all categories of citizens starting 20:00 of March 14 with the exception of employees of Enguri Hydro-Electric Power Plant,” reads the order issued by Bganba.
