Occupation regime imprisons Georgian citizen

The occupational Tskhinvali Court ruled 3-year imprisonment to Gennady Bestaev, a Georgian citizen illegally detained on November 21, 2019, the State Security Service reported.

“Unlawful detentions are the grave consequence of the Russian occupation. The facts aim to pressure the central government and generate feelings of fear and insecurity among the population,” the State Security Service said in a statement.

According to the State Security Service, the issue of illegal detentions will be raised at the meeting of the Incidents Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) Group and internationally mediated Geneva Discussions.

According to the state institution, Russian occupation forces are fully responsible for the illegal detention of Georgian citizens on absurd grounds.
