Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater to suspend contract with Georgian prima ballerina

The Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater will temporarily suspend contract with the Georgian prima ballerina Nino Ananiashvili.

In a statement, the Theater Administration said that making public the name of a new head of the ballet troupe was disrespect to the staff before official presentation.

According to the statement, the final decision would be made in the middle of January based on the results of the meeting between Vladimir Kekhman, Art Director of Opera and Ballet Theater and Nino Ananiashvili.

In an interview with Radio Liberty on January 6, the Georgian prima ballerina Nino Ananiashvili said that she would head the Novosibirsk ballet troupe in Russia from 2021. Nino Ananiashvili noted that she would still head the Georgian ballet troupe. Otherwise, she would reject the proposal.
